AI Slides FAQ
Frequently asked questions about creating and editing slides.
🚀 Stage 1: Getting Started
How can I reuse a template from a previous project?
Problem: You like the design of a previous project and want to create new slides with the same style — but with completely different content.
Method 1 — Save as Template (recommended):
- Open the project whose style you want to reuse
- Click "View & Export" → "Save As Template"
- The template will appear on your AI Slides homepage
- Next time you create a new presentation, select this template and click "Use Template" or "Apply"
- Tell the AI what content you'd like to create
Method 2 — Use a project link on-the-fly:
- Start a new project
- Paste the link of the project whose style you want to reuse
- Tell the AI "use this project as a template", then describe the content you want
Only the design style is carried over — content starts blank.
How can I copy a project and modify it?
Problem: You want to create a copy of an existing presentation to adapt for a different client, translate into another language, or make independent edits — without changing the original.
Solution 1 — Make a Copy from the current project (recommended):
- Click "View & Export" in your presentation
- Select "Make a Copy" from the dropdown menu
- AI automatically creates a new project with all your slides copied over
You can also simply tell the AI "Make a copy" in the conversation — it works the same way.
Solution 2 — Import into a new project:
If you've already started a new project and want to pull in slides from an older one, provide the old project's link or ID in the conversation and ask the AI to copy the content over.
How can I import my own PPTX template? (BETA)
New Feature (Dec 2025): You can now import existing PowerPoint presentations (.pptx files) into Genspark AI Slides and save them as reusable templates.
Steps:
- Access "My Templates": In the template library at the bottom of the main interface, click the "+" card labeled "Add My Template"
- Upload PPTX File: Drag and drop your .pptx file (Max 50MB, up to 20 slides)
- Preview and Use: After upload, view template details and click "Use This Template"
How can I avoid slide format and size issues?
Latest Update (Dec 2025): Slides now maintain consistent aspect ratios automatically. If you encounter layout issues like content overflow or element overlaps, use the new Fix Layout feature.
Solutions:
- Use Fix Layout (NEW): Click the AI Edit dropdown menu → Select "Fix Layout".
- Create outline first: Ask AI to create a comprehensive outline before starting.
- Simplify content: Ask AI to split dense content across multiple slides.
✍️ Stage 2: Content Generation
How can I ensure consistent style across multiple slides?
Root Cause: Default parallel generation processes each slide independently without cross-referencing styles.
Solutions:
- Force sequential execution: Request "Please create slides one by one".
- Confirm first slide: Approve the first slide's style, then require subsequent slides to match.
What if AI generation is incomplete or leaves blank slides?
Solution: Simply tell the AI in the conversation to continue and complete the remaining content. Specify how many slides you need total.
How can I minimize AI hallucination and ensure accuracy?
Method 1: Post-Verification (Quick)
- Use the Fact Check Content feature after generation.
Method 2: Pre-Verification (Accurate)
- Create draft first: Ask for a text draft before slides.
- Fact check the draft: Verify content accuracy.
- Then create slides: Generate from verified text.
✏️ Stage 3: Editing & Refinement
What if minor edits are misunderstood by the AI?
Solution: Use the Advanced Editing feature to manually make fine adjustments. This does not consume credits.
How to undo AI mistakes or restore previous versions?
Solution: Use Save Point (Free)
- Open preview window
- Click "Save Point": Located at the top right next to slide name.
- Restore: Select and roll back to any previous version.
How to use the new AI Edit features?
Fix Layout: Automatically analyzes and fixes layout issues including overlaps and overflow.
Polish Content: Reviews and reorganizes presentation logic and layout for a creative refresh.
👀 Stage 4: Access & Preview
What if the Slides page is not displaying properly?
Diagnosis: Your internet service provider may be blocking our Slides domain.
Workaround:
Change the project URL from:
https://www.genspark.ai/agents?id={your_project_id}
to:
https://www.genspark.ai/slides_wrapper?project_id={your_project_id}
What about special language display issues (e.g., Arabic)?
Status: We are actively working on improvements. Please contact customer service for compensation points if affected.
📤 Stage 5: Export & Share
Do I need a paid plan to export PPTX?
Yes, exporting to PowerPoint (.pptx) requires an active Genspark membership (Plus, Pro, Team, or Enterprise plan).
Does exporting cost credits?
No. Exporting does not consume any credits. Once you're on a paid plan (Plus, Pro, Team, or Enterprise), you can export as many presentations as you like at no additional charge.
What if PPT export doesn't work properly?
Please email [email protected] with a link to your slides and a description of the issue.
How to fix text layout issues in exported PPTX?
Root Cause: PPTX converter issues with complex inline HTML.
Solution:
- Use Advanced Editing to inspect HTML.
- Keep text within a single
<div>block rather than splitting it.
Why do tables/charts become images in PPTX?
To preserve visual fidelity, complex HTML tables and charts are converted to images or shapes during export, meaning they may not be editable as native data objects in PowerPoint.
💡 Best Practices & Tips
- Save credits: Stop immediately when issues arise.
- Speed vs Quality: Sequential generation produces higher quality than parallel.
- Outline first: Always confirm an outline before production.
- Free adjustments: Use Advanced Editing for minor changes.
- Brand templates: Upload PPTX files to maintain consistency.
