Trail Description
- ๐ฒ Scenic Overlook: A bench offers a panoramic view of Horseshoe Lake and the surrounding mountains.
- ๐ Steep Descent: The trail descends steeply about 250 feet to the lake level.
- ๐ Loop Trail: The trail forms a loop around the lake, offering various scenic spots and observation platforms.
- ๐ค๏ธ Nenana River: The north end of the loop brings you close to the Nenana River, providing dramatic views of the river cutting through the canyon.
- ๐ฆซ Beaver Dam: A short spur on the east side of the loop leads to a beaver dam, a great spot for wildlife observation.

Access Points
- ๐ Mile 1 of Denali Park Road: The shortest and most direct route with a small parking lot adjacent to the trailhead.
- ๐ถโโ๏ธ Denali Visitor Center: Park at the visitor center and pick up the trail across the Park Road from the upper parking lot.
- ๐ดโโ๏ธ Bike Path: Hike the Bike Path in the direction of the Denali Bus Depot, cross the park road at the railroad tracks, and continue along the Horseshoe Lake Trail.
- ๐ถโโ๏ธ Taiga Trail: A longer route that adds roughly 1 mile round-trip, meeting the Horseshoe Lake Trail.
