Introduction

Camp Activities

• 🎸 Band Formation: Campers form bands on the first day and collaborate to write an original song and learn a cover song.
• 🎤 Instrument Instruction: Includes 20-minute individual lessons over 7 days.
• 🎧 Workshops: Topics range from Audio Engineering to Songwriting and the Herstory of Women & Folx in Music.
• 🎵 Band Coaching: 45-minute sessions twice a day for 10 days.
• 🎶 Visiting Artists: Performances and interactions with regional bands.
• 📸 Professional Photos: Each band gets professional band photos.
• 🎁 Swag Bag: Includes a bag, stickers, notebook, water bottle, patches, and pen.
• 🍽️ Meals: Lunch, snacks, and beverages are provided.

Eligibility and Inclusivity

• 👧 Age Range: Open to youth aged 8-18.
• 🌈 Inclusivity: Welcomes cis-girls, gender-expansive, nonbinary, or trans youth.
• 🎵 No Experience Needed: No prior musical experience is required.
• 💬 Supportive Environment: Focuses on empowerment, self-expression, and community.

Tuition and Financial Support

• 💵 Sliding Scale: Tuition ranges from $1 to $1600 based on household income.
• 📄 Income Verification: Required for sliding scale tuition; various documents accepted.
• 💰 Financial Aid: Available to ensure no one is turned away due to lack of funds.
• 📅 Payment Plans: Available through the CampBrain registration process.
• 🔄 Refund Policy: Full refund if canceled 30 days prior to camp start; $50 cancellation fee applies.

Location and Facilities

• 📍 Address: Windsor Presbyterian at the corner of 63rd & University, Des Moines, IA.
• 🏫 Facilities: Utilizes the Jacoby Education Wing on the North end of the building.
• 🚗 Drop-off/Pick-up: Early drop-off at 8:00 am and late pick-up until 5:00 pm.
• 🚙 Carpooling: Support available for carpooling arrangements.

Registration Process

• 🗓️ Opens in January: Registration for 2024 camps opens in January.
• 🖥️ CampBrain: New streamlined registration system.
• 📝 User Profile: Create a profile to manage multiple campers' information.
• 💳 Payments: Make payments, check balances, and upload documents securely.
• 👕 Extras: Order extra t-shirts with your rocker's logo.

Camp Showcase

• 🎤 Performance: Campers perform with their bands in a showcase at the end of camp.
• 📅 Dates: June Camp Showcase on June 23, 2024; July Camp Showcase on July 21, 2024.
