Teams

What is Teams?

Teams is Genspark's built-in instant messaging feature that lets you message other users, share projects, and collaborate — all without leaving the platform.

  • Direct messaging — Chat one-on-one with any Genspark user, or create a group chat to talk with multiple people at once
  • File sharing — Send documents, images, audio, video, and more in any conversation
  • Project sharing — When you share a Genspark project with someone, they'll automatically receive a notification in Teams with a direct link to the project
  • Live presence — See when contacts are online and when they're typing

Quick Start

Click Teams in the left sidebar to open the messaging page.

Add a contact

  1. On the Teams page, click the + icon above the contact list on the left
  2. Enter the person's Genspark account email
  3. Send the contact request:
    • If the person is in your organization, you can start chatting right away.
    • If they're from a different organization, they'll need to accept your request first (see "Cross-organization contacts" below).
    • If they don't have a Genspark account yet, an invitation will be sent to their email.

Start a conversation

  • Direct message (DM): Click any contact in the list to open a one-on-one chat
  • Group chat: Open a one-on-one chat with a contact, click "Create group" in the conversation header, add more members, and create the group.

Feature Guide

Send messages and files

Type your message in the chat input box and press Enter to send. You can also:

  • Send files including images, documents, audio, and video
  • Use @ to mention someone in a group chat
  • React with emoji

Search messages

Click the search icon in a conversation to search through message history within that chat.

Forward a message

Hover over any message and click the forward icon to send it to another contact.

Group chat management

After creating a group, the group owner can open the members panel in the top-right corner to:

  • Invite more people to the group
  • View the current member list

Cross-organization contacts

When you message someone from a different organization, they'll first receive a contact request containing your message. Once they accept, you can chat normally.

  • Before acceptance: They can see your initial message, but you can't see their replies yet
  • After acceptance: Your full message history syncs automatically and the conversation continues normally

If someone sends you a contact request, a pending request will appear in your contact list — click it to view the messages and choose to accept.

Project share notifications

When you share a Genspark project with another user, they'll automatically receive a notification in Teams with the project name and a direct link to open it.
